Reviews that usually qualify for removal

Google removes reviews that violate its content policies. These are the categories we see most often.

Fake and spam reviews

Reviews from people who were never customers, bulk review attacks, and duplicate posts.

Conflicts of interest

Reviews from competitors, current or former employees, or anyone posting to harm your business.

Off-topic content

Rants about politics, unrelated businesses, or a different location.

Harassment and profanity

Insults, slurs, threats, and abusive language aimed at you or your staff.

Hate speech and discrimination

Content attacking people for who they are.

Personal information

Reviews that publish phone numbers, addresses, or private details about your team.

Extortion

Reviewers demanding refunds, free products, or money to take a review down.

Impersonation

Reviews posted under someone else's identity or a fake persona.

What can't be removed, and what we won't do

Google doesn’t remove genuine reviews just because they’re negative or feel unfair. If a review reflects a real customer’s real experience and doesn’t break policy, we’ll tell you up front and help you respond to it well instead.

We never post fake reviews, pressure reviewers, or use legal threats to suppress honest feedback. Those tactics can also run afoul of the FTC’s rule on fake reviews and review suppression, and they put your business at risk.

Questions we get asked

How long does removal take?

It varies by review and violation type. Some come down within days; others need escalation and take several weeks. Your analysis includes a realistic timeline.

Is this legal?

Yes. We report policy violations through Google's own processes. We don't buy, sell, or suppress genuine reviews.

Do you guarantee removal?

We guarantee you won't pay for a review that isn't removed. Google makes the final call.

What if I've been hit with dozens of fake reviews?
